I wanted to do something a little different for Valentine’s Day this year. I like making holidays memorable for the kids (my mom would stay up all night before holidays decorating the house and making it so exciting to wake up to). While I’m not the type to do that, I am always looking for creative ways to celebrate while tying it to the Bible in some way. Then I came across this post over at Mommyhood. What a great idea…a scavenger hunt! I used her idea but I tweaked it quite a bit. Jeff didn’t know what I had planned…only that it was something for the family to do. I asked Jeff to take the kids on a run to the store so I could get things set up. When they came home, the first thing they saw when they came in the door was this:
This led them to Evan’s room where they saw this:
Here’s a closer look at the card:
Which led the to this:
…and here’s the card up close:
So we went here (the night light projects a fish aquarium when the lights are off):
…and here’s the card:
…and so we went here:
Up close:
…and on to our final location:
a closer look:
We finished off with some strawberry/white chocolate candies I made earlier in the day. I just diced up some strawberries, placed them in a candy mold…
…melted white chocolate and poured it in the mold…
…put it in the fridge and voila:
I served it up with a tasty hot strawberry drink that I found over at Two Peas and Their Pod.
I hope you all had a fantastic Valentine’s Day!

I should do that next year: have a scavenger hunt with my daughter for Valentine's day.

I love, love, love this idea. I will definitely be doing an Easter scavenger hunt this year using this idea! We always struggle with making Easter Christ centered (my oldest thinks it is only about the easter rabbit). Can't wait to use it!
ReplyDeleteLOVE!! This was so awesome to read and such a fun idea!
ReplyDeleteSo many great ideas here! Almost makes me want to go back to work ;-) I interested in your arts & crafts projects as I am planning to add this category to my frugal blog http://www.frugalburqueno.com/
ReplyDeleteOh how I love this! I am just sorry I didn't see it until now. Oh well, there's always next Valentine's Day. Seriously, thank you for sharing. I, too, love to plan activities and surprises that link back to the Bible. I'm just not very good at it all the time . . . Thanks for linking up at NOBH! Smiles -
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea! I'm going to have to brainstorm other occasions to use this for...
