In our homeschool:
Math: Essential Math Kindergarten SET--Books A and B
We completed our work in Singapore Essentials Kindergarten A and began work in Singapore Essentials Kindergarten B. Focus was on addition and subtraction. Evan understands this far better than I expected he would at age 4. A couple of times I actually walked away to tend to Owen and he did the problems on his own. There were several times where he would say, “Mom, don’t look.” He would do the problem and tell me to look and sure enough, it was right every time. I lovingly refer to him as my Smarty Pants
.

Language Arts:Spell to Write and Read (SWR)
We continue to work on the 1st 26 phonograms, writing the clock letters and the e, l, & b slope letters. I gave him a little break on his writing and allowed him to go back to writing big letters in a different way (for one day).

Owen got in on the action:

Then Evan decided that it would be cool to make footprints (we got a little side-tracked):

What’s in the baggie? Just some paint, oil and a little glitter.
Literature:
We did read some books but I didn’t keep track of what we read this week.
Developmental/Readiness Skills:Developing the Early Learner: Level 2
We’re now into volume 2. We worked on visual/similarities, motor/left-right, auditory/similarities, comprehension/association.

Bible:I Can Study Jonah & Ruth Alone With God - King James Version (Alone With God Bible Studies)
Lessons in the 2nd book of Jonah began this week. He has memorized his second Bible verse from this curriculum (Jonah 1:17).
Science:
We learned all about the 5 senses this week. You can read about that here. We had lots of fun!

The sensory bags are cool. I agree that they feel neat on the feet. It is the kid in me...lol.

ReplyDeleteI use to LOVE finger painting when I was a child and how fun to learn letters :)
Looks like fun! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThat baggie is so awesome! I have never seen anything like that. My guy doesn't like to write and it is a chore. So I try doing fun things with him so he doesn't realize it. ;) We will have to try these bags out!!
ReplyDeleteI hope it works for you :).
DeleteYour son did an awesome job with his math! I love the finger (and foot) painting! It looks like a lot of fun was had. Can we come and play, too? :-)))
ReplyDeleteThank you! The more, the merrier ;).
DeleteI love the idea of posting what we did in school for the week. May have charge someone with taking photos for me. :) (new follower from the Friday blog and google+ hop)
ReplyDeleteIt's a good way for me to keep track of what we do...and a little accountability I suppose.
DeleteI love it when my kids want to "surprise" me with work they have done, usually in math. And I like the finger painting approach!

The finger and toe painting is just precious :)
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog through the linky blog hop. I am a homeschooler too! It is great to find other Moms that do this. This is my first year and it has definitely been a learning experience. My children are older than yours. I am always looking for new ideas.
ReplyDeleteI am following through Linky Followers. Hope you will follow back! Thanks!
Ooooo....I want to step on the bag!! Great week!
ReplyDeleteLove the sensory bags! We are huge fans of Developing the Early Learner. I think I say that every time I come to your blog. lol

ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLove the paint in a baggie idea! My little guy would LOVE that.
ReplyDeleteFollowing you from the vB Linky Followers event! :)
the "new" math they are reaching in school does not allow for ever adding numbers greater than 10..there is no carrying! it is called lattice. the kids rarely make a mistake b/c they can add single digits so easily..but I do not like the whole concept!! isn't that crazy?!
ReplyDeleteThat is weird, hmmm.
DeleteWow - your son is 4 and he is doing K math with additiona & subratction!! I would say he is inclined towards math =-) We are planning to be starting Singapore math for 1st grade. I take it you like the program?
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to TGIF! Have a great weekend,
Beth =)
