Week In Review-4/20/12

I love spring!  I love the smell of the rain and the flowers and fresh cut grass!  I’m so excited that the crocus flowers that I planted last fall are blooming…looking forward to seeing the tulips bloom as well.

Homeschool Stuff:

Bible:  I Can Study Jonah & Ruth Alone With God - King James Version (Alone With God Bible Studies)

We completed chapter 2 in Ruth and began chapter 3.  Here’s a video of Evan reciting more of his memory verses from Jonah:

Character Building: Child's Book of Character Building: Growing Up in God's World - At Home, at School, at Play, Book 1

We began lessons on Tolerance.

Math:

I am still finishing up the prep work to begin with Right Start Level A.  The more I look through the lessons, the more I wish that I would have used this as my base curriculum and supplemented with Essential Math Kindergarten SET--Books A and B .  I have a few weeks of lessons entered into my HST program.  I have been cutting like crazy (from the appedix) photocopying worksheets, and putting a binder together.  I’m really hoping to be ready to start next week .

We did have a little fun with shapes, sorting and making patterns though.

Owen is counting to 10 easily.  He’s actually counted a little higher a couple of times.  Here’s a video of Owen counting:

He knows the following shapes:  heart, star, triangle, oval, circle, hexagon, pentagon, and the plus sign.

Language Arts:  Spell to Write and Read

We haven’t been writing phonograms this week but plan to pick that back up next week.  He’s pluggin’ along learning the 26 basic phonograms.  Owen loves saying them along with us.

Developmental/Readiness Skills:  Developing the Early Learner: Level 2

We did the following:
Motor/maze, left-right
Visual/figure ground, similarities
Comprehension/language, association
Auditory/rhyming, similarities


Literature:

We listened to the 1st 10 chapters of The Magician's Nephew from The Chronicles of Narnia 7-Book and Audio Box Set .
