Much has been going on here and I’m afraid school wasn’t really present this past week. We celebrated Owen’s 2nd birthday last weekend. Time has just flown by. Here’s something special that happened on his birthday:

I gave him the choice of Cars (Disney), bugs or animals for the theme and he chose Cars so that’s what we went with. I’m not a party expert but I was pretty happy with how it turned out so I thought I’d share with you some pictures.

I had a Lightening McQueen car on the table also but a sneaky little one nabbed it and I didn’t notice until I looked at the pictures later.

I have yet to find the perfect cake pop combination that isn’t too sweet. The combination I used here is the best one I’ve come up with yet but still sweeter than I’d like. I used lemon cake and white chocolate flavored cream cheese. It’s really good but you only need one, which could be a good thing I suppose.

Here is our food table…

We were going to do a baked potato bar but due to some health issues I was dealing with (more about that later) we decided to go an easier route. We made tater tots instead. Jeff also made his delish chili.
I googled Disney Cars free clip art and printed pictures of the characters I wanted to use. I labeled them and laminated them and attached a popsicle stick to use as signs for the food…an idea I got from HERE.

I made this Mater utensil holder out of a tissue box and a cereal box. It was pretty simple. That idea also came from the PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED LINK.

It’s hard to tell unless you click on the picture below but the sign in the back says coolant (another idea from the above link).
I found a silver tray at the dollar store and painted it with Martha Stewart Chalk Board Paint. I used frozen water balloons instead of ice and at the end of the party the boys had fun taking turns throwing them (after they melted) at Jeff. The idea for the frozen water balloons came from Pinterest and I was going to put the link to the site it came from but for some reason I couldn’t get on there today. I’ll post it when I’m able.
I wrapped the water bottles with “duck tape”. 1/2 were wrapped with black and white checkers and the other 1/2 with flames. This was also an idea from Pinterest, surprise, surprise. Here's the link.

Now, about the health issues I’ve been dealing with. That’s the real reason that school didn’t happen. For the past 2 1/2 years I’ve been having abdominal pain (like a really bad cramping on the right side) and nausea. I thought it was possibly a gluten intolerance so I went off gluten for a while. I did feel better but I still had the pain…it would come and go. A week ago last Friday the pain started up again and Saturday it was really bad so I decided it was time to go to the doctor. After a blood test and an ultrasound I found out that I had several small gallstones and was scheduled this week (Wednesday) to have surgery to have my gallbladder removed (standard treatment for gallstones I’m told). Then, someone in the medical field that I respect recommended that I do a flush before the surgery to see if it might cause me to pass the stones…instead of having surgery. I was very skeptical but thought it couldn’t hurt things. Here’s the flush I did. Now you know why I was skeptical. I did the flush on Sunday night and Monday. I’m glad they recommended to stay home. I also had my mom here to help with the kids. It made me very nauseated and dizzy. I also had a terrible headache. I will say that I passed a good 50 or so stones…a couple of them were about a 1/2 inch in diameter…many were much smaller. I still have the pain that I had before but it’s not as bad. I talked to my doc and he said that I probably still have some stones. My surgery was cancelled due to the surgeon’s personal reasons so this buys me a little time. After a week or so of drinking apple juice religiously in the a.m. and p.m. (which is supposed to soften the stones) I plan to do another flush. If that doesn’t get rid of the rest of them, I guess I’ll have to go ahead with the surgery. Prayers that this next flush works and that I won’t end up in an emergency situation would be much appreciated. Thank you!
